The RM Charts

The Mirror Chart UK: Taylor Swift takes the first No. 1

The first edition of the Record Mirror UK Chart has arrived, and Taylor Swift claims the top spot with Patient Zero.

Unlike a traditional singles chart, The Mirror Chart combines several signals to give a wider picture of what is actually cutting through each week. Streaming carries the greatest weight, but sales, radio airplay, video performance and current social momentum all feed into the final ranking.

That approach produces an interesting opening Top 10. Sienna Spiro's Great Expectation takes No. 2 after showing strength across streaming, radio and the wider UK chart, while Sam Fender & Olivia Dean's Rein Me In lands at No. 3. Olivia Rodrigo places two tracks inside the Top 10, with The Cure at No. 4 and Stupid Song at No. 7.

Olivia Dean's Man I Need completes the Top 5, while ADÉLA, Ashe, Ella Langley and Stella Lefty all feature strongly in the first edition.

One of the reasons for creating The Mirror Chart is to catch records whose stories aren't obvious from one set of numbers. Boston by Stella Lefty, for example, has been particularly strong on radio, while HUGEL, Imael Angel and Ultra Naté's Movin' To The Sun has shown notable sales strength. Meanwhile, tracks including Good Girl by Cloonee & Prospa are gathering momentum quickly enough to become ones to watch over the coming weeks.

There are familiar names further down too. The Killers' Mr Brightside, Oasis' Don't Look Back in Anger, Robyn's Dancing On My Own and Natasha Bedingfield's Unwritten all make the inaugural Top 40, showing that catalogue tracks can still compete with brand-new releases when people continue to stream, share and rediscover them.

Because this is the first Mirror Chart, all 40 songs enter as debuts. From next week, we'll start tracking the climbs, falls, re-entries and new arrivals.

The Mirror Chart Ireland: Sam Fender and Olivia Dean take the first No. 1

The first edition of The Mirror Chart Ireland has landed, with Sam Fender & Olivia Dean's Rein Me In taking the top spot.

sombr follows at No. 2 with My Body Isn't Ready, while Taylor Swift's Patient Zero enters at No. 3. Olivia Rodrigo also makes a strong start, placing Stupid Song at No. 4 and The Cure at No. 9.

Irish artists make a real impact across the chart. Kingfishr land two tracks in the Top 20, with The Sun Will Never Settle at No. 5 and Killeagh at No. 13. Amble take No. 6 with The Swell and also appear again at No. 25 with Tonnta.

Fontaines D.C. have three tracks in the Top 25, led by Marianne at No. 15, followed by Starburster and I Love You.

There are also strong appearances from ADÉLA, Ashe, Ella Langley, Noah Kahan and KATSEYE, while familiar favourites including The Cranberries' Linger, Oasis' Wonderwall and Journey's Don't Stop Believin' all make the first Top 40.

As this is the debut edition, every track enters as a new entry. From next week, The Mirror Chart Ireland will start tracking the climbers, fallers, re-entries and fresh arrivals.
